Hara Brand Strategy

2024

Bentonville

Hara is a design-forward company that creates curated luxury spaces for living, working, and staying. As the brand prepared for its next chapter, there was a clear need to codify its identity and positioning—ensuring every touchpoint reflected the soulfulness and intentionality at the heart of Hara’s work.

Business Challenge

While Hara had a deeply held philosophy, it lacked a unified brand strategy and visual framework that could be applied consistently across channels. The team needed a system to guide internal teams, collaborators, and future expansion—without losing the brand’s human warmth and wabi-sabi elegance. Key questions included:

  • How can we scale the Hara experience without diluting its spirit?

  • What is the emotional core of our brand—and how do we express it visually?

  • How do we build cohesion across digital, print, and physical spaces?

What We Did

We created a foundational brand strategy and design guidelines system for Hara that included:

  • Core Philosophy Definition: Distilled Hara’s ethos into a guiding belief—“Everyone deserves to be inspired”

  • Brand Mantra: “Life is a collection of beautiful, flawed moments”—capturing the poetic imperfection of luxury spaces grounded in humanity

  • Emotional Framework: Built around three core principles—Sanctuary (how it feels), Curated (how it looks), and Ritualized (how it works)

  • Brand Archetype: Positioned Hara as The Creator, with a brand character known as The Cultivator of Creativity

  • Personality: Outlined tone traits and clarified what the brand is and is not.

Outcome

The result is a brand platform that balances clarity and inspiration. The strategy and guidelines now:

  • Equip the team with the tools to communicate Hara consistently

  • Help partners and collaborators express the brand accurately across all touchpoints

  • Support property development and expression with a clear aesthetic and emotional filter

  • Elevate Hara’s market position as a thoughtful, soulful brand at the intersection of design, psychology, and wellbeing

Hara now moves forward with a defined identity that honors its founder’s vision while creating space for future growth.
